On the weekend of the 4th December CURC embarked on a busy two days of racing, with the Novices and the high performance squad heading off to UBBC Head in Bristol on the Saturday and the Senior Squad racing at Wallingford Head on Sunday. This was the Novices first race and it proved to be a success! The Novice Women coming in 3rd and 4th in WBeg 8+ and the Men coming in 3rd and 14th in MBeg 8+. These are some really solid results from the Novices and we are looking forward to seeing them progressing at the rate they have been after Christmas. The high performance squad of Catherine James and Sam Bannister had a brilliant race, with them both winning their respective champ singles division.
The senior squads had an equally as successful day on Sunday at Wallingford, with the Men’s 8+ coming in a very respectable 11th out of 23 in IM3, only 0.3 seconds off the Oxford Brookes crew who placed 10th. The Women stormed down to come 3rd out of 16 in WIM3 8+, they had a fantastic row! The Men’s 4+ put in an admirable performance racing in IM2, they came in 5th.
CURC had a fantastic weekend and it was a brilliant way of rounding off a very successful term. Now for a well-deserved break, back in January even hungrier than ever.
